Lauren Ohmer is a NY State Licensed Massage Therapist, a certified Thai massage therapist, and a member of Associated Bodywork & Massage Practitioners. A graduate of the Onondaga School of Therapeutic Massage in Syracuse, NY, she has been trained in various Eastern and Western modalities including Swedish, deep tissue, Shiatsu, pre/post natal, and sports massage. Lauren received her Thai massage instruction from Ananda Apfelbaum, whose work is based on that of master healer and teacher, Pichest Boonthumme. Ananda is responsible for first introducing Lauren to this powerful healing art, and continues to be a daily inspiration.
Part of what drew Lauren to Thai massage is its rhythmic, dance-like quality. She was able to combine her passion for movement with her love of massage and healing. With a BFA in Dance from Butler University, Lauren has performed principal roles in productions on both coasts as well as trained abroad. She is currently studying and performing modern dance here in NYC.
With deeply rooted interest in movement, the body, health and well being, Lauren was driven to learn about exercise science as well. Having years of experience as a certified personal trainer, Lauren has successfully worked with a broad spectrum of individuals varying in age and physical condition. Through discipline and compassion, she is able to assist her clients in reaching their personal goals and improving their quality of life.
Lauren created Bodhi Tree Thai Massage as a way to combine her knowledge and love of massage with her experiences as a dancer and a fitness professional. It is her goal to share the benefits of this ancient form of bodywork with others and to help them achieve greater balance, mentally and physically.
